Ellen is a strategic and innovative leader in health professions education with over 20 years’ experience, committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-informed programs that meet learner needs and prioritise community health outcomes. Ellen holds a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Education and is currently completing a Master of Clinical Education, bringing contemporary expertise to advance health professional education.

Previously Ellen headed up the Learning and Innovation team at the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, with responsibility for the ANZCA FPM CPD program, educational program design and delivery, development of new qualifications, changes to the anaesthesia curriculum, educational research and regulatory compliance including re-accreditation activities with the Australian Medical Council. Prior to this she managed Education and Training at Cancer Council Victoria overseeing educational programs for health professionals and consumers. Before that she managed the Skills Training Department at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons for 12 years and was involved in developing the highly regarded Operating with Respect program to address bullying, discrimination and sexual harassment in the surgical setting.

Ellen has a special interest in advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing through education and systemic change, and communication skills training to improve consumer experience.

In her role as GM Education, she is responsible for overseeing the Education Directorate at APA including the Australian College of Physiotherapy, with responsibility for professional development, career pathways, titling and the specialist training program.
