About the group
The Business group began in 1968 when a group of private practice physiotherapists in New South Wales came together to take greater control of their professional future. The initiative quickly grew across Australia, becoming a national group in the early 1970s.
Since then, the group has worked in partnership with the APA to provide members with relevant business resources, continuing education and leadership development.
We understand that running a small business demands a different skill set to clinical practice—and that the right network and support can make all the difference.
Members range from established practice owners to those just entering private practice. You can engage through local committees, professional development events and active discussions in PhysioHub, where business owners share ideas, troubleshoot challenges and explore new opportunities.

Every two years, members of the Business group National Committee play a key role in planning the APA Business and Leadership Conference, a forum that explores current challenges, innovations and strategies to strengthen physiotherapy businesses across Australia.
