Understanding Scoliosis & Protocols of Evidence Based Care

HYBRID - FACE TO FACE EVENT

6:30pm-8:30pm AWST– presentations

This event is also available as an online event

This workshop will provide physiotherapists with an introduction to scoliosis, evidence-based protocols of care, and the role physiotherapists play in early identification, appropriate referral and conservative management.

The session will explore spinal anatomy and biomechanics, idiopathic and non-idiopathic scoliosis presentations,
and key considerations in clinical and radiological assessment. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of
curve severity, risk of progression, and the impact scoliosis can have on a child or adolescent's function,
participation and quality of life.

The workshop will also introduce evidence-based management principles, including scoliosis-specific exercise, bracing considerations, patient education and interdisciplinary care, supported by case examples to assist clinical reasoning.

This session aims to improve confidence in recognising scoliosis, understanding appropriate care pathways, and
providing accurate, evidence-informed support to children, adolescents and families.

Hosted by the APA Paediatric Committee WA.

This is a face to face event in WA.
