Professor Kim Bennell will discuss the current evidence pertaining conservative non-drug treatments to managing osteoarthritis (OA) throughout all stages of the disease. The lecture will cover OA management approaches which encompass both biomechanical and psychological factors. Moreover, Kim will discuss the latest research on identification of OA subgroups to help tailor appropriate management strategies.

Kim Bennell


Professor Kim Bennell is the director of Centre for Health, Exercise and Sports Medicine at the University of Melbourne. She is an NHMRC Principal Research Fellow and leads a multidisciplinary team including people from physiotherapy, medicine, exercise science, podiatry and psychology. Kim's research focuses on conservative non-drug management of musculoskeletal conditions including osteoarthritis and osteoporosis with an emphasis on the role of exercise in both prevention and management. In this field, she has more than 210 publications in peer reviewed journals, 3 textbooks and 32 book chapters. She is also on the Board of Directors of the Osteoarthritis Research Society International.
