Spinal Physiotherapy Part A (Lumbar)

The all new Spinal Physiotherapy Part A (Lumbar) course has arrived! In conjunction with Spinal Physiotherapy Part A (Cervical), this is the current replacement of the former Spinal Level 1 course.

The new Spinal Physiotherapy Part A course is a foundation course ideal for:

  • new graduates with an interest in musculoskeletal physiotherapy;
  • more experienced graduates changing to work in musculoskeletal physiotherapy; or
  • more experienced physiotherapists returning to musculoskeletal physiotherapy after an absence.

The course is aimed at physiotherapists who are seeking to develop a career in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. Delivered via a mix of teaching and learning approaches including didactic, practical/hands-on, directed learning and facilitated case-based group discussions, course participants will enhance their theoretical knowledge and demonstrate this understanding into practical application, reinforcing critical thinking in the area of musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

Topics covered are: Overview of lumbar spine disorders in a biopsychosocial framework, Overview of movement and neuromuscular changes in low back pain disorders and their detection in the physical examination through clinical reasoning of the analysis of: Lumbar posture, Active movements, Patient specific functional tests, Analysis of motor control, Manual examination of the lumbar spine, Nervous system testing. Multimodal management of low back disorders.
