Disability and Gerontology student group lecture

This lecture on physiotherapy in disability and gerontology will focus on the NDIS and case studies of patients you will see on placement in each of these areas.

There will be two speakers to kick off the evening, finishing off with a panel discussion lead by members of the APA gerontology committee on the career pathways into gerontology physiotherapy.

Ingrid Cole


Ingrid Cole is a Physiotherapist and the Director of People and Culture at Everyday Independence. Graduating from Latrobe University in 1999 Ingrid worked in a number of Melbourne Hospitals before moving to Dundee in Scotland where she worked at one of Europe's largest teaching hospitals as well as completing a postgraduate Masters in Neurological Physiotherapy from Edinburgh University. On returning to Melbourne, Ingrid worked at the Royal Children's Hospital and later Westmead Children's Hospital in Sydney before joining EI in 2012. Ingrid is passionate about the NDIS and building an allied health workforce that is NDIS ready and capable of delivering high impact outcomes to people with a disability and the disability sector.

Hannah Sharma


Hannah Sharma has been working as a physiotherapist in sub-acute inpatient public health settings for over 14 years. Recently, Hannah completed her Masters in Clinical Education at the University of Melbourne. She is involved in sessional tutoring within the Gerontology modules at The University of Melbourne and Swinburne University. Besides this, Hannah chairs the APA VIC gerontology committee and is an assessor for the Australian Physiotherapy council. Her current research project is exploring experiences and perceptions of gerontological physiotherapy clinical supervisors of teaching clinical reasoning.
