Precautions after hip replacement: how much and for how long?
Hip replacement surgeries are common surgeries in Australia. Post-op rehabilitation after a total hip replacement often involves physiotherapy which focuses on education re hip precautions, exercise and mobilisation to restore mobility, strength, flexibility and normalising gait to improve pain and return to normal function.

Dr Mahendrakumar Meta is a QLD-trained orthopaedic surgeon specialised in adult hip & knee replacement surgery & paediatric orthopaedic surgery. With more than 20 years of experience in the field of orthopaedic surgery, Dr Meta is one of very few orthopaedic surgeons in Brisbane with sub-specialty training fellowships in Adult as well as Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery, undertaken in Australia, NZ & India.
His unique understanding of hip & knee problems across all age groups makes him versatile in treating these conditions. Dr Meta is also actively involved in medical research and has presented and published on various topics. Following his passion for orthopaedics, he attained two Masters degrees in orthopaedics. His main focus is on Hip & Knee Replacement Surgery using the ERAS program.
