National Reconciliation Week 2020 – A perspective on Indigenous health and the theme “In this together”

In line with the theme of National Reconciliation Week 2020, “In This Together”, this lecture will explore ways in which physiotherapists can collaborate effectively with Indigenous people in order to achieve the best possible outcomes.

It will provide an insight into how health is defined in the Indigenous population.

Katharine Blaze


Dr. Katharine Blaze is a paediatric doctor working at the Women's and Children's Unit of the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS). The VAHS works to meet specific medical needs of the Victorian Aboriginal community with the provision of a range of support and services. The Women's and Children's Unit specifically focuses on providing women and children with education, healthcare, housing and employment.

Dean Duncan


Dean Duncan has dedicated his life to creating abundant positive changes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, children and young people in Out Of Home Care, women in the workforce, the LGBTQI community, people with disability, and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities. Dean is currently the executive Director of the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation and was the recipient of the 2019 National NAIDOC Person of the Year award.
