Postural Control in Children and the Effect of Pilates

Please join us for a lecture on postural control in children and the effect of pilates presented by Elizabeth Hornsby and Rosalee Dewar.

Elizabeth Hornsby


Elizabeth Hornsby has 30 years of clinical experience in paediatric physiotherapy and is the director of Kids Care Physiotherapy, a paediatric private physio practice located in the inner north side of Brisbane. She completed a Pilates Instructor Training Course 15 years ago and since then has incorporated Pilates as one of the techniques she uses in her management of children. In 2016, she commenced her PhD at The University of Queensland to research the effects of Pilates intervention in children. This presentation will include the results of a Systematic Review and clinical trial, both on the Impact of a Pilates Intervention on Physical Function in Children with Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder as well as what areas of postural control that Pilates impacts on.
