The sporting elbow, wrist and hand

This course will provide participants with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to successfully diagnose and treat sporting injuries of the hand, wrist and elbow. Practical components will include throwing analysis, elbow and wrist rehabilitation strategies as well as splinting techniques for the hand and fingers.

Learning outcomes

  • Identify, assess and provide rehabilitation options for common sports injuries of the elbow
  • Identify common errors seen in the throwing action and understand the contribution of these errors to injury
  • Identify, assess and provide rehabilitation options for common sports injuries of the wrist
  • Identify, assess and provide rehabilitation options for common sports injuries of the hand

Prerequisites

  • This course is only available to qualified and AHPRA registered physiotherapists.

Presenters

Keren Faulkner


Keren is a very experienced physiotherapist, and the Manager of Performance Services for the Australian Paralympic Committee. She has supported Australian teams at 2 Olympic Games, 2 Paralympic Games and 3 Commonwealth Games and enjoys working in multi-sport environments. Keren leads physical therapies and equipment research for the APC with passion and enjoys opportunities to learn from athletes, coaches and officials in sport. Keren is also Head of Performance Solutions for Cycling Australia's para-cycling program. She has been a lead physiotherapist and part of the Medical Advisory Group to the 2018 Invictus Military Games. In her spare time, Keren enjoys orienteering and spending time with her 3 children.
