Surviving serious COVID-19: The lived experience of physiotherapist as patient
A survivor of near fatal COVID-19, Karl Schurr will give a physiotherapist's perspective of his recovery. Initially, Karl was unable to lift his arms or move his legs and dependent on staff for all activities. How can therapists promote goal directed activity in this severely restricted physical and environmental situation? Karl will present reflections on his recovery after 8 days in coma and the following months of rehabilitation. The strategies that helped and those that didn't help his recovery will be discussed. This will be an opportunity for therapists to reflect on strategies they can use to optimise outcomes for patients and their carers.
