A health economic perspective of advanced practice in MSK PT - Discussion Forum with Dr Darryn Marks
Prescribing and advanced practice have gained popularity for their potential to enhance health care efficiency and therapeutic options for physiotherapists. Yet in Australia, uptake has been slow and the potential application of these models to general physiotherapy practice is not well understood. In contrast, the number of UK physiotherapists qualified to prescribe and inject continues to increase and physiotherapists are increasingly supported to provide primary contact for musculoskeletal patients within GP surgeries.
This forum will discuss the progress and application of advanced practice and prescribing in physiotherapy. The evidence will be explored using a health economic perspective to highlight clinical, research and policy considerations for the Australian context.
Attendees will be asked to participate in the forum via brief digital surveys and will be provided with opportunities to ask questions and encouraged to discuss their own experiences with extended scope physiotherapy
