Paediatric gait and running analysis and retraining
Course:Paediatric gait and running analysis and retraining
This course provides in-depth insight into higher level mobility analysis and retraining post-neurological injury in the paediatric and adult populations. It includes gait and running analysis and retraining. The course combines a lecture day, covering both paediatric and adult components, and a practical day devoted exclusively to paediatric issues. You should have some experience in treating the paediatric/ neurological population with gait and mobility limitations.
Learning outcomes
- Understand the impact of speed and age on gait performance
- Understand an impairment-focused approach to gait analysis, and gain further knowledge of video-based observational gait analysis
- Understand the biomechanical features of gait disorders in people with stroke, acquired brain/traumatic brain injury (and/or Parkinson's disease, cerebral palsy)
- Assess and prescribe exercise to improve higher level mobility including running in the neurologically impaired population
Prerequisites
- This course is available to qualified and AHPRA registered physiotherapists and may be also available to other AHPRA registered practitioners.
