International presenter Carina Siracusa is excited to be coming to Australia to present her Treatment of the Pediatric Pelvic Floor: From Basic to Advanced course.
This two-day course will cover pelvic floor issues for both typically developing and neurologically involved children. Normal development of the bowel and bladder will be discussed, as well as the neurological control of bowel and bladder.
Common neurological developmental problems will be discussed as well as their effect on the bowel, bladder, and pelvic floor. The treatment of the child with cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and autism will be discussed from both the point of view of a pediatric developmental therapist and as a pelvic floor physiotherapist.
Participants will also learn the typical physiotherapy treatment techniques for pediatric pelvic floor patients. Basic principles of biofeedback will be discussed as well as the applications of biofeedback for treating the pediatric population. Basic and advanced techniques will be discussed as well as the medical treatment for cases of constipation and bed wetting.
