Bringing cancer care to the patient

When Benjamin Gold’s wife Nicole Iglicki was diagnosed with breast cancer just before the COVID-19 pandemic, their lives became dominated by hospitals, surgery and chemotherapy. Nicole’s having to travel to care when she was feeling low sparked an idea for Benjamin: what if cancer rehabilitation and allied healthcare could come to the patient?

Managing employee absenteeism

Employee absenteeism can be a challenging issue in the workplace. Identifying early warning signs and following appropriate procedures can assist employers in managing this issue.

In any workplace, occasional lateness or absence is normal. However, ongoing or patterned absenteeism can disrupt operations, affect productivity, place pressure on other team members and lower morale.

At the same time, not every absence is misconduct, so absenteeism should be managed with a balanced and procedurally fair approach.

Collective approach takes the sting out of pain management

Alongside the physical symptoms of persistent pain, there often come years of frustration, fear of movement, conflicting advice, unsuccessful treatments and a growing loss of confidence in the body. For physiotherapists, helping people navigate that complexity can be one of the most challenging – and rewarding – areas of clinical practice.

Physiotherapist Matthew Ash APAM has spent much of his career working with people whose pain persisted long after an injury should have healed.
