Measuring the value of the Physiotherapy Research Foundation
In 2020, the PRF engaged Survey Matters to evaluate the impact of PRF grant funding on research capacity, knowledge production and clinical practice in the physiotherapy profession over the past 30 years. PRF Grant Recipients were invited to complete an online survey.

In the past, the PRF has been largely funded by APA members, providing the opportunity for practitioners to directly contribute to the research that informs physiotherapy practice. In 2020, the opportunity to engage corporate partners and propose various sponsorship opportunities arose.

2020 has been an exciting year for the PRF. This year’s activities were designed to ensure that the PRF continued to build the evidence base and value of the profession, through both strategy and researchers led activities.
Telehealth Project Update: Interim results now available
Earlier this year The University of Melbourne in collaboration with researchers at the University of Queensland and Flinders University, invited Australian Physiotherapists to participate in a Physiotherapy Research Foundation funded project which investigated the effectiveness of Telehealth by physiotherapists in Australia during the COVID-19 pandemic.

2020 PRF Grant Recipients
The PRF has awarded over $1.6 million in grants since 1990, funding research across a range of areas including respiratory conditions, incontinence, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, knee osteoarthritis and more. Some Seeding Grant recipients have successfully entered into research careers within Australian universities and internationally.
