The Editorial Board of the Journal of Physiotherapy has welcomed two new appointments this year, Professor Carol Hodgson, FACP, and Associate Professor Christine Lin, APAM, who have joined for an initial three-year term. Carol is the deputy director of the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre in the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at Monash University, and a senior physiotherapist in the ICU at the Alfred Hospital.

Carol leads international trials in mechanical ventilation and early mobilisation in the ICU and specialises in long-term functional outcomes following ICU and organ support. Her research interests include early rehabilitation in intensive care, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and long-term outcomes of survivors of critical illness.

Christine is Principal Research Fellow at the Sydney School of Public Health, The University of Sydney and the Institute for Musculoskeletal Health. She holds a Career Development Fellowship from the National Health and Medical Research Council.

Christine’s main research focus is on investigating the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of treatments for common musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain.

Both Associate Professor Mark Hancock and Professor Kay Crossley were reappointed for another term on the Editorial Board.

Chair of the Editorial Board, Associate Professor Ilana Ackerman, says the calibre of applicants ensured a competitive selection process. ‘The Journal was fortunate to field many highly qualified candidates for a limited number of vacancies. The Editorial Board welcomes Carol and Christine, and we are looking forward to their contributions to maintain the Journal’s standing as the leading core physiotherapy journal internationally.’
