Primary Health Tasmania is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation working to connect primary care, and keep Tasmanians well and out of hospital. 

Primary Health Tasmania is responsible for improving the efficiency, effectiveness and coordination of primary care in Tasmania. The organisation’s activities are informed by clinical guidance (Clinical Advisory Council) and community input, and is one of 31 Primary Health Networks established by the Australian Government in 2015.

Primary Health Tasmania established the allied health professionals network as a forum to support allied health professionals working in primary health in Tasmania. Allied health professionals networking forums are held in three venues across the state during the year: Hobart, Launceston and Ulverstone, 6.00–8.00 pm. 

These forums offer networking, professional development and collaboration with other providers to promote coordinated, person-centred primary healthcare. Physiotherapists are encouraged to attend and take advantage of the opportunity for learning, discussion and sharing resources, while also receiving updates in the area of primary health.  

The most recent networking meetings in September addressed the topic of telehealth. This session, ‘Telehealth: the what, why and how’, looked at opportunities, barriers, practicalities and rewards, and considered what the future might look like.
