New additions to Editorial Board

Associate Professor Peter Malliaras from Monash University and Dr Kate Hayward from University of Melbourne are the newest additions to the Journal of Physiotherapy Editorial Board, commencing their three-year term at the start of January.

They are joined this year by Professor Mark Hancock from Macquarie University, who has been reappointed for his third term, and Professor Carol Hodgson from Monash University, who has been reappointed for her second term.

Peter is a musculoskeletal physiotherapist who has an international reputation in tendinopathy.

Aside from leading various tendinopathy research projects in his academic role, Peter maintains his passion for managing patients with long-term tendon pain in the clinic.

Kate’s skill set includes that of physiotherapist, rehabilitation scientist and clinical neuroscientist.

She is a Senior Research Fellow with an international reputation in stroke rehabilitation.

Chair of the Editorial Board, Professor Ilana Ackerman, welcomed the new appointees.

‘We look forward to working with both Peter and Kate over the next three years and value the expertise and skills that they bring to Journal of Physiotherapy.’

Ilana also acknowledged the work of Professor Kay Crossley, who stepped down from the Editorial Board last year.

‘Kay has had a significant influence on the Journal during her tenure on the Editorial Board, not only through leadership of our social media portfolio but also with her editorial experience and passion for advancing the Journal.

'We thank Kay for her many contributions.’

Additionally, Journal of Physiotherapy has appointed a second Editorial Fellow, Dr Joshua Zadro from the Institute for Musculoskeletal Health in Sydney.

The Editorial Fellowship presents an opportunity for up-and-coming Australian physiotherapy researchers to gain important exposure to an international editorial board, receive mentoring and develop skills across key journal portfolios.
