Wayne Rodgers will present ‘Shoulders: simplifying the complex’, a course which aims to provide attendees with a systematic and comprehensive approach to managing a wide range of shoulder dysfunctions.

What can participants expect from the course?

This program teaches participants a simple to follow assessment, treatment and clinical reasoning pathway to help assure successful clinical outcomes. Course participants can, most importantly, expect to enjoy an extremely practical course. They will be learning to refine assessment skills and apply highly effective manual therapy techniques and functionally designed rehabilitation exercise programs.

Eighty per cent of the course is practical, allowing participants to immediately consolidate everything that is taught in the short (but comprehensive) theory lectures.

The theory presents a wonderful combination of the ‘art and science’ of shoulder physiotherapy: the science that draws on the very latest evidence in physiotherapy research, and the art of optimal client management, which has been refined by decades of personal clinical experience.

Who will benefit most from attending?

As the name of the course suggests, any physiotherapist who is looking for fresh and relatively straightforward strategies for assessing and managing a wide spectrum of shoulder dysfunctions will benefit from attending.

Course participants from earlier versions of this course have been physiotherapists with up to five years clinical experience but we often have more experienced clinicians in attendance who are looking for a more efficient way to get good results.

How will the course strengthen knowledge about treating the shoulder?

Physiotherapists who have attended past courses typically express a certain joy in finally comprehending what is considered by many to be a complex region of the body. This comprehension is achieved by initially ‘demystifying’ the regional functional anatomy and biomechanics, and then by following a precise and systematic approach to assessment, hands-on treatment and exercise prescription.

It is the objective of this course that participants come away from the weekend with a significant increase in their confidence in successfully managing shoulder dysfunctions.
