Caitlin Scott MACP’s career as a physiotherapist has been anything but ordinary. 

With a background in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and a passion for sports and exercise, she has carved out a unique career that has taken her from the battlefield to working in private practice.

I thought I would use this first issue to provide you with some insight into my career journey to date and early impressions of the terrific work being undertaken at the APA.

Entering my physiotherapy studies, I had big plans. 

As a huge sports fan and Melbourne Demons tragic, I envisaged myself as the physio running out onto the MCG and treating elite athletes. 

Instead, I went on another exciting journey.

After two decades of a busy career, Dr Matt Whalan MACP was ready for his next challenge—achieving the Titling credential through the Australian College of Physiotherapists.

I have served the APA and the physiotherapy profession for nine years, including over four as CEO. 

In that time I have gained a profound respect for physiotherapists and appreciation for the under-celebrated role they play in people’s lives.

Less than a decade ago, advocacy on behalf of the profession was largely reactive. 

Having recently completed the portfolio titling pathway in neurology, neurological and vestibular physiotherapist Ethan Marrinan APAM MACP says that Queensland physiotherapists are in a prime position to support people presenting with dizziness.
