Milestone 3: TITLING
The first step towards Specialisation
The Milestone 3 Titling credential is awarded to a physiotherapist who has met requirements of a formalised assessment process to demonstrate their highly developed physiotherapy experience and knowledge in a field of practice.
Pathways to Titling
- Academic: Open to Physiotherapists who have successfully completed an APA-recognised Master’s degree and meet eligibility requirements.
- Evidence Portfolio: Launched 2024 and replaces the Experiential Pathway (which ceased 30 June 2023). Open to physiotherapists who meet eligibility requirements.
- Grandfathering: Only open to Cancer, Palliative Care and Lymphoedema.

Overview
The Academic Pathway for the award of the Titling credential is currently offered to physiotherapists who have successfully completed an APA-recognised Master’s Degree and meet eligibility requirements. Information on the Academic pathway is outlined in the ACP Academic Titling Information Booklet.

Eligibility
- Current Ahpra registration without restrictions
- Current membership of the Australian Physiotherapy Association
- Current membership of the National Group to which you are applying for Titling (except those applying for Titled Research Physiotherapist)
- Minimum continuous practice area experience requirements
- Minimum recency of practice requirements
- Undertaken 30 hours CPD in your selected practice area within the past three (3) years
- Successfully completed an APA-Recognised Australian Postgraduate Master’s Coursework degree except Research Physiotherapist applicants who must have successfully completed an Australian Master’s by Research, Master of Philosophy or Doctor of Philosophy.
- Overseas applicants must provide evidence of three (3) years continuous practice in Australia post full Aphra registration. Refer to the ACP Title Handbook for the required verification documentation

Overview
The Evidence Portfolio Pathway was launched in March 2024 and replaces the Experiential pathway, which ceased 30 June 2023.
The Evidence Portfolio comprises of three (3) components:
1) ‘Show Portfolio'* component - which demonstrates the applicant’s competency against the seven roles of the Physiotherapy Competence Framework at Milestone 3.
*Applicants must have successfully completed the prerequisite Level 1 or 2 course relevant to their field of practice plus any other perquisite requirements outlined in the Titling Information Handbook
2) Reflection component:
- Cultural Capability reflection which demonstrates the applicant’s understanding and/or implementation of cultural capability/safety
- General Reflection which demonstrates the applicant’s insight against the Physiotherapy Career Attributes.
3) Clinical Practical Assessment

Applications for Intake 1 have now closed. Applications for Intake 2 will be open from 1 to 31 July 2024.
