Research, clinical trials and the evidence base
Physiotherapy prides itself on being an evidence-based profession but evaluating the evidence to ensure that it leads to effective care for patients requires an understanding of the research process and the ability to separate the good from the bad.
Here Professor Steve Kamper offers some tips to help physiotherapists identify high-quality research that will be relevant to their work, while Dr Josh Zadro and Geraldine Wallbank provide a primer on using the Physiotherapy Evidence Database. Melissa Trudinger also takes a look at physiotherapy research funding and clinical trials to see what’s happening.
