Welcome addition as key contributor departs
EDITORIAL BOARD: Associate Professor Leanne Johnston from The University of Queensland is the newest member of the Journal of Physiotherapy Editorial Board, commencing a three-year term at the start of January.
Leanne, the program director of Health Sciences Research for the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, has 25 years of experience as a clinician, researcher, educator and allied health manager, as well as a member of several boards, including for hospitals and professional associations.
She fills one of two Editorial Board vacancies that became available at the end of last year after Professor Rob Herbert from Neuroscience Research Australia completed his third and final term, and Associate Professor Ilana Ackerman completed her second term.
Ilana, from Monash University, was reappointed for another term and will continue to serve as the chair of the Journal’s Editorial Board in 2020. She welcomed Leanne to the Editorial Board and paid tribute to Rob’s significant contributions to the Journal.
‘Leanne’s appointment brings further diversity to the Editorial Board, given her extensive expertise in paediatric physiotherapy. We look forward to working closely with Leanne over the next three years,’ she said.
‘On behalf of the Editorial Board, I would also like to acknowledge Professor Rob Herbert’s dedication and longstanding service to the Journal. In addition to the key portfolio roles he has held, we greatly appreciate Rob’s contribution as scientific editor from 2001–2005 and his leadership as chair of the Editorial Board from 2011–2016.’
The APA congratulates Leanne and Ilana on their respective appointment and reappointment to the Editorial Board, and thanks Rob for his role towards fulfilling the vision of Journal of Physiotherapy being the pre-eminent international publication of the science and practice of physiotherapy.
