Applications for the Physiotherapy Research Foundation (PRF) Seeding Grants and Beryl Haynes Memorial Grant are now open. Both grants are aimed at helping new and early career researchers within any area of physiotherapy. However, the Beryl Haynes Memorial Grant is designed to support physiotherapists working or studying in Tasmania in memory of Beryl, a pioneering leader in the Tasmanian Health system over decades.

There are six Seeding Grants on offer and one Beryl Haynes Memorial Grant, with funding up to $20,000 for each grant.
Applications are considered predominantly on the basis of scientific merit, significance and team capability.

Eligibility

The applicant must:

  • be the Chief Investigator of the project
  • hold current unconditional registration as a physiotherapist with Ahpra
  • currently reside in Australia
  • be a financial member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) and maintain APA membership at the time of application and for the duration of the grant
  • be an early career researcher
  • be currently working or studying in Tasmania (only applicable for the Beryl Haynes Memorial Grant). Members of the research team may be located outside of Tasmania.

The applicant must not have received:

  • a PRF Seeding, Project or Tagged Grant previously as a Chief Investigator or
  • a Beryl Haynes Memorial grant previously
  • any research grant of more than $20,000 as a named lead investigator for example CIA, including at the time of awarding this grant.

Applicants will be required to justify their eligibility as an early career researcher, but typically people over ten years post PhD (excluding career disruptions) will be ineligible.
