Low Back Pain Clinical Care Standard

Low Back Pain Clinical Care Standard

Low back pain (LBP) is one of Australia's most common musculoskeletal conditions, contributing significantly to overall disease burden. To assist in the management of LBP, the Australian Commission of Quality and Safety in Health Care developed the Low Back Pain Clinical Care Standard (Standard). The Standard aims to reduce the long-term effects of LBP by providing healthcare practitioners with guidance on early assessment, management, review and referral. The Standard has been endorsed by the APA and can be accessed via the ACSQHC’s website

To assist physiotherapists in implementing the Standard, the APA collaborated with the ACSQHC to develop a Quick Guide for Physiotherapists. For more information about the Standard, read the May Inmotion article by Peter O’Sullivan FACP and Chris Maher FACP .
