The Stroke Journey

In 2020, there was an estimated 445,000 Australians living with a stroke. Stroke prevalance increases with age, and is more common in males. Physiotherapists are experts in the structure of the human body and its movements. They work closely alongside stroke survivors; on the initial admission to hospital and this continues on discharge into the community. The role includes the comprehensive assessment and management of impairments, rehabilitation plan development and discharge planning. This discussion will explore the stroke journey through the continuum for an older person, from a physiotherapists perspective.
