Scar Therapy Practitioner

International RESTORE course will cover:

RESTORE scar therapy massage techniques.
Silicone cupping for scars
Head and neck scar treatment with inter-oral techniques
Taster session of K-Tape for scars
Wound healing basic theory
Contraindications
Treatment planning considerations
Adapting treatment for different scars in different locations
Understanding the different benefits of scar oils, creams, gels and silicone products.
Demonstrations with members of the public
Skills development and coaching session with attendees treating members of the public.

Participants will be asked to arrange a patient to attend the course for free treatment on Wednesday 8th Jan between 2:45pm - 4:15pm

Important Note:

This course is non-refundable. In the case that a participant is no longer able to attend, a suitably qualified replacement may be sent in their place. This clause supersedes the Australian Physiotherapy Associations terms and conditions 'Registration cancellation by participant for face to face events'

Learning outcomes

  • Demonstrate a range of scar massage and fascial scar techniques
  • Use silicone cupping for scar tissue and adhesions
  • Treat inter-orally for facial scarring after trauma or injury (including burn)

Presenters

Victoria Maher


Vickie Maher has been specialising in Scar Therapy since 2018 with a successful private clinic in Essex, England where she sees a variety of clients with different scars. She joined the Restore teaching team in early 2022, having assisted on scar therapy training classes since 2021. Vickie has completed over 95 hours mentoring with the course creator, Emma Holly. Her continued education within therapy started from a background in sports massage has included myofascial release, Sharon Wheeler's ScarWork and lymphatic drainage with Jane Wigg. She donated her time to support the Invictus Athletes during their pre-event training in Lea Valley Centre, offering scar therapy massages and volunteered with burn injury survivors at a burn charity retreat in 2023.Vickie has successfully completed an Award in Education and Training for adults. Vickie has shared her knowledge with physiotherapists specialising in a variety of fields from MSK to oncology, hand specialists to pelvic physiotherapists. With an open and friendly teaching style, she has a natural ability to share her skills and knowledge, with clear explanations on techniques or theory questions.
