Lecture

Differential diagnosis of posterior thigh and buttock pain

Posterior thigh and buttock pain can stem from a variety of sources and correct diagnosis can be difficult. Optimal outcomes are dependent on proper diagnoses, allowing targeted treatment.

This lecture will introduce a clinical reasoning process incorporating the idea of the layer concept to help streamline assessment. A number of common (and not so common) causes of posterior thigh and buttock pain will also be discussed and assessments demonstrated to help
practitioners develop their reasoning with this approach.

This lecture will aim to demystify these tricky presentations, especially for early to mid-career physiotherapists. Experienced clinicians are welcome also, as a number of uncommon conditions that can often be missed will be discussed.

This is a face to face lecture only
