Journey to Elite Sports Physiotherapy

Dr. Alex Kountouris is a titled APA Sports Physiotherapist and is currently the Head of Sports Science and Sports Medicine at Cricket Australia. Alex has years of experience working in high level and elite sport including his role as the Head Physiotherapist of the Sri Lankan National cricket team from 1995-2003 and as the Australian men's cricket team Physiotherapist from 2006 - 2015. He completed his Physiotherapy degree from Latrobe University in 1991 and subsequently completed his post-graduate diploma in Sports Physiotherapy. Alex also went on to complete his PhD in 2013 investigating cricket injuries. He has since become a leading expert in lumbar bone stress injuries. Additional to his extensive clinical and educational experience, Alex has published over 30 research papers in various peer-reviewed journals, having presented at local and international conferences. In this online lecture, Alex will talk about the journey and pathway to becoming an elite sports and exercise Physiotherapist.
