Aquatic Physiotherapy after Burn Injury: Tips and tricks for screening and managing patients

Anita Plaza will be presenting on the screening of patients with burn injuries for aquatic physio including: the precautions and contraindications, how to facilitate access, severity of burn injury and benefits gained from aquatic physio. She will also present some case studies that demonstrate the benefit of aquatic physiotherapy after burn injury.

Anita Plaza is a Consultant Physiotherapist and Team leader at the Professor Stuart Pegg Adult Burn Centre at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in Brisbane. She has greater than 25 years of clinical experience working with both adults and children who have sustained burn injuries. Her current clinical and research interests include investigating, implementing and evaluating interventions that improve physical activity participation after burn injury both during the early acute phase and also during long term recovery and rehabilitation, ultimately with the aim of improving patient outcomes.
