STUDENT EVENT: Introduction to taping

STUDENT EVENT ONLY

This hands-on workshop is designed for physiotherapy students keen to develop foundational skills in sports taping. Whether you're preparing for a clinical placement, working with teams, or just starting out, this session will equip you with the confidence and technique to apply rigid and elastic tape effectively.

Led by an experienced sports physiotherapist, the workshop covers practical applications for common joint and muscle injuries, with a focus on injury prevention and sideline management.

All materials are provided, and no prior taping experience is required.

Please wear appropriate clothing with access to shoulders, knees and ankles.

This event will be held at WA APA Office. Suite 1, 4 Sarich Way Bentley.

Kindly organised by the APA WA Sports and Exercise Committee. Registration is compulsory.

Katie-Jane Hartshorn


Katie-Jane Hartshorn is a titled APA Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist who currently works in private practice, with the AFLW Fremantle Dockers, and at Curtin as both an undergraduate tutor and postgraduate supervisor.She completed both of her degrees at Curtin University after moving from Tasmania to pursue her studies. Throughout her career, she has worked across multiple sports such as football, cricket and basketball, but also loves treating the everyday athlete. Katie has a strong rehabilitative focus and believes that movement is the best medicine. This practice and ethos is reflected in the way she manages all people- from elite athletes to weekday warriors.

Cobie Starcevich


Cobie is a PhD candidate at Curtin University in Australia with a Masters of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and teaches within the undergraduate physiotherapy program at Curtin University. Cobie's PhD research is interested in mapping the concept of 'fear of reinjury' after ACL injury with the goal of helping clinicians provide person-centred care to athletes recovering from ACL injuries. Clinically, Cobie has 16 years of experience, with career highlights including touring the world as a performance medicine physiotherapist with Cirque Du Soleil, and now working as an Advanced Scope Physiotherapist within an Emergency Department. For the past 5 years Cobie has been the clinical editor of the APA MPA publication, InTouch.
