Spinal cord stimulators in pain management


This lecture is aimed at providing more information about what SCS is, the process involved in making the decision which presentations/patients it is appropriate for and how does that fit into multi-disciplinary management of patients in a biopsychosocial context.

Presenter: Dr Michael Veltman

Dr. Michael Veltman is a specialist pain medicine physician and anaesthetist with a special interest in perioperative medicine. Since 2007 he has been the Director of Anaesthesia and Deputy Director of Medical Services, Joondalup Health Campus and has been responsible for developing a non-existing pain service in 2007 to a service that now provides comprehensive cover for acute, chronic and cancer pain.

He is also Consultant in Pain Medicine at SCGH since 2007 and currently acting head of department.

He holds academic appointments as adjunct professor at University of Notre Dame and associate professor at UWA.
