Biomechanical aetiology of ACL injuries

The lecture will focus on the biomechanical aetiology of ACL injuries and implications for late stage rehabilitation and return to sport. We will discuss the four biomechanical deficits that are associated with ACL injuries, their prevalence and characteristics.

Evangelos Pappas


Professor Evangelos Pappas is the Head of the Discipline of Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney where he lectures in the areas of musculoskeletal physiotherapy, and particularly as it relates to the lower extremities and biomechanics. His research interests are in the areas of sports medicine, biomechanics and musculoskeletal physiotherapy. Specifically, he researches the aetiology of lower extremity sports injuries, effectiveness of injury prevention programs, and motor control re-training for the prevention and treatment of knee pathologies. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and intramural grants. He has presented his work in more than 50 national and international conferences and he has been interviewed on the radio as an expert on knee injuries. His publications appear in top journals in the fields of physiotherapy, sports medicine and biomechanics.
