Occupational Health Physiotherapy Level 1

The Occupational Health Physiotherapy Level 1 course will broaden your scope of practice through delivering the latest knowledge and skills to match contemporary practice and its evidence-based underpinnings. Participants will be challenged to consider the foundations on which their decisions are made in order to future-proof their Occupational Health practice.

The course will deepen your understanding of the importance of workplace safety systems, leadership, the climate of safety and the risk management process as applied to health promotion, and injury prevention. Key population health issues in most workplaces including chronic diseases in addition to mental health disorders and musculoskeletal disorders are outlined. Practical skills are cemented through in-depth musculoskeletal tasks risk assessments, good work design ergonomic scenarios, and office equipment evaluation and application.

Social culture, inclusivity, and workplace leadership are incorporated so participants can implement effective and equitable occupational health workplace strategies and, through nuanced communication skills, are able to lead positive workplace conversations and manage difficult conversations with stakeholders.

Optimal Return to Work pathways and barriers are identified and workshopped for common and complex scenarios using the most recent evidence-based screening, assessment and communication tools and processes.

The principles of good work design are integrated with the physical, cognitive and organisational components of human factors/ergonomics into office and onsite ergonomic scenario analysis.

A range of training formats including video analysis, group discussions, ergonomic equipment demonstration and practical sessions throughout the two days course strengthens occupational health skills across the seven modules – Legislation, Risk Management, Systems of work, Leadership and Safety Climate and a Culture of Safety, Communication, Ergonomics, and Injury management.
