3D Living Anatomy Course: Reinvigorate your surface and depth anatomy palpation skills

Anatomy and palpation are core manual therapy skills.. This day workshop focuses on enhancing your anatomy and palpation skills and includes both living (dry lab) and cadaver (wet lab) learning.

During the dry lab you will draw the rib cage including floating ribs, identify scalenus anterior and medius, draw the pelvis, experience the joint play in the superior tibifibular joint, locate the true cause of MTSS, and locate the elusive serratus posterior superior.

A 2 hour wet lab at the University of WA is included to facilitate better visualisation of deeper anatomy and tissue relationships.

Dry Lab Session: 8.00 am to 4.00 pm at APA office in Bentley - Suite 1, 4 Sarich Way. It will cover lower quadrant - foot, knee, lower back and pelvis and upper quadrant - truck, head, neck and shoulder

Wet Lab Session: 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm Anatomy & Physiology Building UWA. This is a secure venue at night and will be locked at 6.00pm. If you are late you will not be able to enter.

Doug Cary

Doug qualified from Curtin University in 1987 and spent the next few years developing his career and spending a lot of time in the outdoors of Tasmania, Canada, USA and Patagonia. These solo activities taught him to plan, be organised, respect the environment and look after his kit, never knowing what mother nature would toss his way. On returning to Australia in 1992, he completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Manipulative Physiotherapy at Curtin and in 1995, a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Acupuncture. Doug has been a gold member of the APA, titled member of the MPA and inaugural WA chair of the Acupuncture & Dry Needling Group. He completed his Specialisation in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in 2009 and recently his doctorate at Curtin University, studying sleep posture and the relationship to waking spinal symptoms and quality of sleep. Nearly 3000 video hours of bedroom antics! A recently published scoping review examining spinal pain and sleep posture, was in the top 5% of all Altmetric research outputs. In 1995 Doug started AAP Education, an education company providing continuing education to aspiring health practitioners and he works in a private practice with his wife in Esperance. Other than Physiotherapy, he enjoys raising Murray Grey cattle, scuba diving and underwater photography.
