The Physiotherapy Research Foundation (PRF) is pleased to announce that up to six Seeding Grants of $12,000 each will be offered in 2023. Seeding Grants are for early career researchers working on new or established research projects.

This year Physio Pitchfest was a virtual event with over 70 attending.

The PRF has awarded over $1.8 million in grants since 1990, funding research across a range of areas including respiratory conditions, incontinence, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, knee osteoarthritis and more. Some Seeding Grant recipients have successfully entered into research careers within Australian universities and internationally.

In 2020, the PRF engaged Survey Matters to evaluate the impact of PRF grant funding on research capacity, knowledge production and clinical practice in the physiotherapy profession over the past 30 years. PRF Grant Recipients were invited to complete an online survey.

2020 has been an exciting year for the PRF. This year’s activities were designed to ensure that the PRF continued to build the evidence base and value of the profession, through both strategy and researchers led activities.

The Physiotherapy Research Foundation together with the Insurance Commission of Western Australia is pleased to announce that it has awarded Professor Peter O’Sullivan a research grant valued at $90,000 that aims to improve the independence of people seriously injured in vehicle accidents to ensure insurance premiums remain affordable.
