Maternity/paternity or unemployed

What is it

  • membership for a physiotherapist who is on maternity or paternity leave or is unemployed
  • insurance included in membership price
  • valid through to the expiry of the current membership year.
You are eligible if you:

  • are not working in any capacity for more than six months of the membership year due to maternity or paternity leave
  • are registered or previously registered with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.
  • Members in this category will be reallocated to the M1C (full-time private with insurance) membership category for the following year. This is particularly important to note if paying by instalments, as your first automatic payment in January will be taken at the higher-fee rate unless you change your membership category by manually renewing prior to January.

Overseas for more than six months

  • valid through to the expiry of the current membership year.
You are eligible if you:

  • are overseas for more than six months of the membership year
  • are registered or previously registered with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.
  • Members in this category will be reallocated to the M1C (full-time private with insurance) membership category for the following year. Postgraduate study

  • valid through to the expiry of the current membership year.
You are eligible if you:

  • are undertaking postgraduate study and are not working more than an average of 18 hours per week
  • are registered or previously registered with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.
  • Members in this category will be reallocated to the M1C (full-time private with insurance) membership category for the following year. This is particularly important to note if paying by instalments, as your first automatic payment in January will be taken at the higher-fee rate unless you change your membership category by manually renewing prior to January.

Non-practising physiotherapist (NPP)

What is it

  • membership for a physiotherapist who is not currently practicing physiotherapy services
  • insurance for past clinical practice only included in membership price.
You are eligible if you:

  • do not work as a practicing physiotherapist
  • are registered as a NPP with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia
  • NPP members are not able to apply for National Group membership.
