2024 VIC Branch Winter Breakfast

Join us at the annual VIC Branch Winter Breakfast.

Our keynote speaker, Katie Davies, will be presenting 'The importance of physiotherapy involvement with concussion management'.

Over the last 10 years community awareness of concussion has rapidly intensified as has the understanding that this condition can be managed. Physiotherapists can play a key role in identifying concussion and rehabilitating people with persistent symptoms following a concussion.

Concussion is seen across many fields of physiotherapy such as sports, paediatrics, gerontology, trauma, emergency departments, neurology and community. Concussion requires a unique set of skills both hands on impairment management and management of the wider person within a multidisciplinary team.

This presentation will cover the condition of concussion including pathophysiology and impairments. It will touch on rehabilitation and management.

Overall it will highlight the importance of the physiotherapist role and how we as a profession should be involved in the concussion timeline as well as research.

A panel discussion will follow the presentation. Joining Katie on the panel are:
- Dr Michael Makdissi, Sports & Exercise Physician
