2026 VIC Branch End of Year Breakfast
Join us at the annual VIC Branch End of Year Breakfast, to be held at The Glasshouse.
Our keynote speaker, Professor Trudy Rebbeck FACP, will be presenting 'Patient and clinician centered care for people with “mild” traumatic musculoskeletal injury; complex cases driving effective intra-professional collaboration'.
People with “mild” traumatic MSK and brain injury such as whiplash and concussion often do not recover well. Symptoms overlap, traumatic stress is often present and both patients and clinicians are overwhelmed.
Physiotherapists have a key role to play in the management of these conditions, but the concept of intra-professional collaboration is new.
Over two decades, Prof Rebbeck has worked to develop and implement Pathways of Care PACE Programme) for people with complex traumatic musculoskeletal conditions. Concurrently she has established frameworks around how to truly collaborate, utilizing the best of physiotherapy expertise to provide optimal care for patients.
In this interactive presentation, complex cases will be presented following a clinical reasoning framework. Attendees will interact and clinical reasoning will be explored to arrive at differential diagnoses, and targeted, individualized care.
Key insights explored will be
- Key features in the history that assist with differential diagnosis of whiplash, concussion and post-traumatic stress
- Assessment of key domains including neurological, sensorimotor, vestibular, psychological and cardiovascular components.
- How to collaborate effectively to determine individualized care pathways.
Attendees will improve knowledge and understanding of:
- Differential diagnosis of dizziness within complex whiplash and concussion cases
- Effective collaboration in “mild” traumatic MSK and brain injury care
A panel discussion featuring Trudy and other, to be confirmed members, will follow the presentation.
