Introduction to Mental Health First Aid for Health Professionals

Mental health first aid training empowers individuals to educate others about mental health, reduce stigma and promote early intervention and support for people experiencing mental health problems.

Despite the high prevalence of mental illness in our community many health professionals are not equipped to confidently and skilfully support an individual who is becoming unwell, in distress or in crisis.

This introductory lecture will introduce the benefits of becoming trained in mental health first aid in order to deliver care that is more compassionate, mental health aware and to be able to start a conversation with those who are experiencing mental health problems whilst staying in their scope of practice.
