Lecture

Scoliosis Management in Paediatrics

This presentation will provide physiotherapists with a clinical overview of the screening, assessment and management of scoliosis in the Paediatric population. We will explore what scoliosis really is, how to differentiate between structural and functional scoliosis, potential red flags, and the relationship between growth, progression risk and treatment recommendations.

Current management approaches will be discussed, including observation, Physiotherapeutic Scoliosis-Specific Exercise (PSSE), bracing and surgery' together with the physiotherapist's role within the multidisciplinary team. The presentation aims to leave physiotherapists with greater confidence in screening for scoliosis and knowing what action to take when it is identified.
