Musculoskeletal Clinical Translation Framework

The Musculoskeletal Clinical Translation Framework was released in 2018, to assist clinicians identify different factors that may influence the development, maintenance or resolution of musculoskeletal pain.

This lecture is based on the Australian Pain Society Pre-Conference Workshop originally scheduled for Hobart in April 2020 (but cancelled due to COVID). It will be appropriate for any clinician who deals with any pain condition, not only musculoskeletal pain.

The lecture will incorporate training in the use of the framework, and will be immediately useful in clinical practice.

Tim Mitchell


Tim is a Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist (As awarded by the Australian College of Physiotherapists) who works part time in clinical practice at Pain Options with a focus on the management of complex and chronic injuries and pain disorders. Tim is also a sessional academic at Curtin University where he is involved in clinical teaching and research. He has completed a PhD in the area of low back pain and has a special interest in the translation of logical reasoning into clinical practice. He has previously worked as a team leader at an international sports medicine hospital, and is involved in the ongoing care of patients as well as providing second opinions on more complicated cases.
