THRIVE Virtual Series 2022 - Inflammatory arthritis – diagnosis and associated risks

Do you know for sure that patient's swollen ankle is a sprain? How do you know that patient with bursitis doesn't have an underlying inflammatory condition? Sometimes ruling out a bony injury just isn't enough.

In this session, through case-based presentations, you will learn about the different causes for joint swelling (and it's not all sporting injury related), develop a systematic approach to patient assessment, and improve your assessment and management of patients with swollen joints. John will present the features that raise concern for inflammatory conditions in the acutely swollen joint, the important reasons for urgent rheumatology referral, and key rheumatology clinical pearls.

Participants will gain:
• A rheumatologists' perspective on assessing acute swollen joints
• Improved differential diagnosis for challenging cases
• Practical methods for improving the assessment and management of patients presenting with acute swollen joints
