Get Involved

From sporting injuries, back pain, to rehabilitation, post pregnancy treatment or prescribing physical activity, most of us will be treated by a physiotherapist at some point in our lives. Getting involved by fundraising, becoming a corporate partner or simply donating, will allow the PRF to further allocate research grants for clinical trials that enable physiotherapist to adopt the latest, safest and most effective techniques when providing treatment.

How your donation helps

The Physiotherapy Research Foundation supports the physiotherapy profession by promoting, encouraging and supporting research that advances physiotherapy knowledge and practice.

The PRF aims to:

  • Boost the careers of new researchers through seeding grants
  • Support research in key areas through project grants
  • Encourage academic excellence through university prizes.

PRF Fundraising

There are many different ways to support the PRF through community fundraising activities. It can be as simple or elaborate as you like, the choice is yours. Together with the support of your local community, clients, friends and family you can make a real difference to the physiotherapy profession.

However you choose to support the PRF, know that we have a great range of resources to assist you with your activity. Your support will enable the PRF to further allocate research grants for clinical trials that enable physiotherapist to adopt the latest, safest and most effective techniques when providing treatment.

Fundraising options:

To make fundraising even easier, we've recently partnered with MyCause to give you the ability to choose from a number of pre-organised events such as marathons or fun runs that you may be interested in. In just minutes you can build and customise your page, then start sharing the link with your friends, family and colleagues. Every donation is then recorded on your fundraising page along with a message of support from your donors.

More information will be distributed in early 2021 on this fundraising initiative.

Get involved with your local community by hosting your own fundraising activity. You may choose to ask your local primary school to host a sausage sizzle or host a morning tea at work, whatever works best for you. If you are a business owner, think of it as an opportunity to connect with your local area and further promote your business. Additionally, it’s a great way raise awareness of the importance of physiotherapy research.

We are working on a Fundraising Guide and toolkit that will be available to all members. The Fundraising Guide will help you organise a chosen activity and help you get started. Before you proceed, you’ll need to register your details with APA by contacting us on PRFinfo@australian.physio and filling out the Fundraising Registration Form. Once authorised you will gain access to our toolkit and will receive support for your fundraising journey. Be sure to take a look at the state-based laws around fundraising and our guidelines and terms for more information.

Corporate partnerships

The Physiotherapy Research Foundation is privileged to have the support of corporate partners, who share similar business values and are invested in long term collaboration. Your support can make a difference to the livelihood of many Australians as physiotherapy plays a crucial role in Australia’s healthcare system. It is one of the largest allied health industries and continues to grow rapidly. Physiotherapists help patients recover from injury, manage disease and improve their wellbeing.

The PRF is focused on developing research which can further enhance the physiotherapy profession and also advance career opportunities. One of our first major grants recipients, Dr Claire Baldwin, describes her experience as critical for her career progression, ‘For me, it was a really important step to moving from a student researcher, to an independent researcher and starting to build collaborative networks’. As a corporate partner your business has an incredible opportunity to be a part of that.

We are excited to offer partnerships with organisations across Australia to further support research that advances physiotherapy knowledge and practice. Our partnerships are based on collaboration and mutual benefits. Working on a case by case basis, we can build tailored partnerships that suit your business goals.
For more information please refer to our Corporate Partnership overview or contact PRFpartners@australian.physio.

Research is so valuable to our profession, strong scientific evidence based research enables physiotherapists to adopt the latest, safest and most effective techniques when providing care and treatment to patients. This is why the PRF is funding what we call ‘research translation’. We are highly invested in discovering innovative ways to reproduce research findings and deliver content in a more digestible manner. For more information on Research Translation click here. We have had the privilege of collaborating with FlexEze on several projects over the years. Most recently, a series of podcasts have been developed as part of the ‘Talking Physio’ series. For more information on these Podcasts, please listen here.

There are three levels of partnership agreements with the PRF—Platinum, Gold and Silver packages. There is a minimum level of commitment for each level with additional content opportunities that can be tailored as required.

Additional content can be sponsored in conjunction with or separately from, these sponsorship packages.
