As celebrations for Pride Month draw to a close, we acknowledge the 55th anniversary of the start of the International Gay Rights Movement in 1969.

Today and beyond, the Australian Physiotherapy Association is steadfast in its commitment to fostering a profession that champions diversity and inclusion.

We strive to eliminate discrimination, harassment, and vilification based on gender identity, sexual orientation, and innate variations in sex characteristics.

$162.7 million in savings: APA calls for direct referral policy change

A new report from Nous Group revealed that allowing physiotherapists to make direct referrals could save the Australian healthcare system and patients an astounding $162.7 million annually. This new evidence supports the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) in their work advocating for a transformative policy change that would significantly improve the patient referral process.

Plea for pain sufferers: More support for non-surgical interventions

In a flash poll conducted by the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA), over 90 per cent of physiotherapists said they have treated patients suffering after unnecessary and potentially harmful surgeries. This comes following a confronting exposé of Australia’s chronic pain industry on ABC Four Corners, which highlighted potential overuse of surgical procedures, despite physiotherapy treatment being considered part of best practice.

APA scores third consecutive Employer of Choice award

The Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) has been awarded the 2024 Human Resources Director (HRD) 5-Star Employer of Choice award for the third year running.

The APA’s nomination comprised a comprehensive submission about its offerings and practices, followed by robust survey data that evaluated its employees’ perceptions of company benefits, compensation, culture, development and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
