Physiotherapists can help with endometriosis

Endometriosis is a complex pain disorder and pelvic health physiotherapists can use a number of management strategies to help, says Angela James.

Endometriosis is derived from the Latin terms endo (inside), metra (uterus) and osis (disease).

It is a complex, inflammatory, estrogen-dependent pain disorder affecting 11 per cent of women, girls and those assigned female at birth (Zondervan et al 2020, Rowlands et al 2021).

Using critical reflexivity to challenge dominant discourses in low back pain care

A Queensland study has looked at the use of critical reflexivity as a tool to foster more socially just and equitable practices, specifically in low back pain (LBP) care.

In this study, the researchers sought to understand how clinicians looked at LBP in relation to broader socio-cultural-political aspects of care and how this changed after engaging in critically reflective dialogue with researchers.

Chatbot technology has potential to transform brain injury rehabilitation

Typically, rehabilitation for adults with traumatic brain injuries includes setting patient-centred goals and motivational support.

However, access to face-to-face rehabilitation can be limited and patients can lose sight of their goals in between clinical appointments, slowing down their rehab and recovery.

To help overcome this, researchers at Flinders University have developed a chatbot called RehabChat to help patients stay motivated and and maintain momentum between clinical appointments.
