Professor Trudy Rebbeck’s contribution spans nearly 40 years of musculoskeletal clinician practice, tertiary education and evidence-informed research. 

During a mini keynote session at APASC25 in Adelaide, seasoned sports physiotherapists James Trotter MACP and Keren Faulkner FACP shared insights into what the next decade means for physiotherapists keen to work at Brisbane 2032.

Physiotherapy is one of the most clinically diverse professions in healthcare. 

The APA’s national groups span the breadth of practice—working across public, private and community settings to deliver care throughout the life span. 

Developing education that reflects this breadth of practice is no small task.

VESTIBULAR REHABILITATION 

This course aims to provide an overview of vestibular anatomy and introduce clinicians to the assessment and treatment of individuals with vestibular dysfunction.

Paula Raymond-Yacoub APAM was born in Khartoum, Sudan, to English and Egyptian parents. 

She lived in Sudan, Egypt and England before migrating to Australia with her parents and brother Alan.

What clinician skills do you believe are most critical for delivering very high-quality care for people with back pain? 

In my opinion, delivering high-quality care for people with low back pain requires clinicians to have a range of different skills and to know when to use each. 

DISABILITY 

Delivered in three parts, this Level 1 course aims to provide physiotherapists with the knowledge, understanding and skills to deliver high-quality physiotherapy services to people with a range of disabilities. 

Hip osteoarthritis is common, costly, often misunderstood and on the rise. 

In May this year, I travelled to Tokyo alongside APA National President Dr Rik Dawson and Chair of the Board Mark Round to attend the World Physiotherapy Congress 2025. 

The scale of the congress made the event a brilliant opportunity for us to represent Australia on a global stage and to network and connect with physiotherapists from around the world. 

During our time in Tokyo, we were able to meet with board members and senior executives from numerous countries including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Nepal, the United States and the United Kingdom.
